David fronted the Red Hot Blues Band, and was leader of the Alleygators, a swamp blues act from 1990-'96. Over the years, David Booker has performed with such blues and rock legends as Rufus Thomas, Bo Diddley, Solomon Burke and Mack Rice, author of "Mustang Sally." This CD finds Mr. Booker in an acoustic mood with minimal backup including congas and a tad of trumpet. This proves to be an upbeat and extremely infectious combination. We put it on and listened to this disc, in it's entirety, 3 times through. David plays these tunes with a passion for plain good music that only he could command. The vocal phrasings are varied and applied perfectly, while the guitar playing and sense of humor are at their best. If laughter is the best medicine and if music is supposed to make you feel good, then David Booker is a real musical doctor.
